Poetry – Scared of the Postman

A post van
Photo by Joel Moysuh on Unsplash

I’m a little bit scared of the postie

Now I’m home working all day

She knows

Phone calls

Video meetings

These things mean nothing

The knocking continues

Until I open the door

Clothes

Children’s toys

My purchases are of no interest

But they will no longer return to the van

The door bangs until she sees

Me walking down the stairs

Smiles

Politeness

I have no reason to be scared of the postie

Still

Please share the love!
