Best blogs for writers

As well as my own blog there are some other fantastic blogs out there, each with a different slant on how they will push you to be the best writer that you can be. Below is a list of the best blogs for writers that I’ve come across. Although I’ve included links to the blogs additional services, I haven’t used them, so use your own judgement when forking over your hard earned cash!

I’m always looking for additional resources for this page. If you’re the owner of a blog, contact me and I’ll let you know what I’ll need from you to include you on this list (NOT a fee – I don’t charge for links!)

The Writing Cooperative

Writing co-operative logoNot strictly a blog, but it’s my site, so I’m including it. Have you looked on Medium for writing inspiration? It can be a tad intimidating to start with, but you can’t go wrong with anything published by the internal publication The Writing Cooperative. They curate content from around the site into a one-stop shop for writers. It’s becoming one of my favourite places to check when I need a slight kick up the…

Bang2Write header

B2W coves a huge range of writing subjects, including script reading, submission, genre, characterisation, pitching and writing research!

There’s more, of course! I’ve read lots of articles on novel writing, self promotion and lots of other things you need to know if you want to make a career from writing. The blog owner, Lucy Hayes, runs it also has a load of writer services that she offers to writers.

You may even recognise the name under this guest post…

Script Angel

Script Angel blog recommendationI stumbled across Script Angel a while ago, when the blog seemed to be mainly about writing competitions. However, since then it has grown with the business and the blog now acts as (for scripts) an essential resource for tips and tricks on the craft of screenwriting.

Like Bang2Write, there are a number of writer services offered, including screenwriter coaching and script notes.

Paul McVeigh

Paul McVeigh author pictureAward winning writer Paul’s blogspot blog is refreshingly minimalist, concentrating on the important thing – the content. The blog is well worth a bookmark as he updates it regularly with competitions and opportunities for writers.

The Creative Penn

Joanna Penn - the creative pennSo much good stuff! Joanna Penn is another award winning writer who has decided to share her wisdom with the world. This blog has a huge amount of information on it, and it can be a little overwhelming, so I’d recommend a quick look at her ‘Start here’ page before you dig in.
